Make Me Up Marie was created in 2014 as an open diary that others can enjoy. Initially, I simply wanted to showcase my writing skills, keep log of the things I do and like and join a community of people who share similar passions in life. (you can read my first ever post here)

Make Me Up Marie quickly gained a niche readership with a strong focus on budget beauty alternatives and highstreet fashion, and as a result became (and remains) a place where beauty fanatics, fashionistas and other likeminded consumers can receive unbiased, informative product reviews, style advice and self-help tips.

Today (2016) Make Me Up Marie places greater emphasis on mind and matter, rather than makeup and material. It is a blog that evolves at the same pace as a person – my person! And so, you can now expect to find process-driven, opinion-based pieces, real life stories and non-glossy posts covering all areas, from cruelty-free cosmetics to child abuse (yes, I said it. But don’t fear – trigger warnings will be applied where necessary).

I take my readers on an authentic journey, in which you can see my personal development as it occurs, and my thoughts as they appear. I have not stopped wearing or writing about makeup altogether, nor have I lost interest in fashion. But it is important to note that my attitude has shifted, and parts of my personality have been shred to make room for the new.

You can read all about the change, here – where I unpick my relationship with makeup and discuss my influences and addition. It is from this point that you will be able to follow, with a good understanding, how Make Me Up Marie ended up where it is now and why it never will stay stuck again.

I love that I get to help, guide, entertain and inspire people on a daily basis, and hope that, after learning a little about me, you will join me on this journey. And if you do decide to subscribe, feel free to connect with the community by posting your first comment in section at the bottom of this page 🙂

Make Me Up Marie is a blog made up of my personal thoughts, advice and opinions. I review the products I love, as well as those I dislike, alongside providing commentary on my daily musings.

All of the posts found on Make Me Up Marie are completely unique and original to me (though I will sometimes share and accept relevant images, guest posts, reading recourses etc. with due credits). This is what keeps my blog well-balanced un-blinkered and completely open to new ideas – all things I believe to be vital for growth and creativity.

When I receive discounts, compensation or join any affiliate programme, I make sure to always state this obviously within the relevant post and/or mark it with an asterix (*). I am happy to accept advertisements, affiliate links, PR samples and other compensation, but it must be remembered that any payments/blogger benefits I receive will not alter my opinion of a product.

I am here to provide my readers with a reliable, honest opinion that they can trust. I only accept product samples that I believe reflect my message, and do my very best never to endorse brands that misrepresent my beliefs or mislead my blog visitors. Therefore all product reviews on my site are 100% authentic, unbiased and fair.

Many of the topics/categories added in September 2016 onwards will have trigger notices/warnings. This is customary in many safe spaces online and is designed to protect and prevent vulnerable or receptive individuals from encountering certain materials or subjects that can induce an extremely strong emotional response (for example, post-traumatic flashbacks or panic attacks).

Please be assured that my intention for sharing such personal experiences, processes and opinions is to help both myself and other survivors. I know first-hand just how helpful, comforting and validating it can be to read the stories and thoughts of others.

My reason for provoking difficult discussions on taboo topics is to break-down barriers and connect different communities from all across the world. It is this kind of openness, awareness and exploration that leads us to amazing discoveries and incredible advances.

This is a hate-free zone, where trolling will not be tolerated. I encourage my readers to practise patience and empathy, but never ask them to lose their passion or identity. I ask you all to respect this space and thank you for taking the time to read this.

If you have any questions kindly post them below and await a reply. I am online daily and will always look to answer whatever queries you have swiftly!

Yours truly,
