I’ve always wondered what things would be like if I had pursued my passion for makeup by becoming a makeup artist. I love what I do now because I get to incorporate my interests (most of the time) but I guess I also like to ponder on the idea of being able to play around with makeup all day long – and that I think many girls can relate to!
One day, when the business is properly set up and able to run without me, I think I’ll finally attend some makeup lessons and evening classes just to see if being an artist is in fact for me. In the meantime, my friends get to be my guinea pigs 🙂
Over the weekend I had a visitor. Close-friend Kathryn came over to get her makeup done from start to finish! She’d just got back from the hair salon and wanted to complete her new look. I was super happy to be given the chance to photograph the process on someone else for a change, but was equally nervous as the only people I’d done before were my mum, sister and possibly cousin if I remember correctly…
Trusting and supportive, Kathryn put me at ease and soon I felt right at home doing up her lovely face. I started telling her what I was doing and why, dishing out advice and even directing her face movements. Interested in the results? Here’s a (long-winded) before & after for you:
Products used include: Rimmel Stay Matte Primer, Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude, Rimmel Lasting Finish Concealer, MAC Prep & Prime CC Color Correcting Compact in Neutralise, Makeup Revolution I Heart Definition, Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlights, Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Chocolate, Barry M Natural Glow Eyeshadow Palette, Front Cover Eyeshadow Palette, MaxFactor Lipliner in 04 Pink Princess, Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in 148 Summer Pink (we switched half-way through!), Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. Brushes: Real Techniques Angled Foundation Brush, MAC Angled Shading Brush & Lighting In The Box Blusher Brush. Eyebrow brush is unknown – sorry!
What do you think of this makeup transformation? I think it’s perfect for a day-to-night look as you can top up on contour, highlight, lipstick and eyeshadow in the toilets at work before going out to create a more dramatic look.
