Casual Business | What To Wear To An Interview

I’m Wearing: Top: Missguided / Skirt: Missguided / Boots: Zara / Fur Gillet: Charity Shop / Watch: River Island

Smart/casual is always a difficult dress code to get just right. Go wearing jeans and you fear you’ll look underdressed but wear a full blown suit and you run the risk of looking overdressed! To me, smart casual is a dress code than allows you to show a bit of personality. You aren’t so restricted, so you can incorporate some colours and a little pattern. Obviously, each job you go for will have a different focus and dress code so it’s worth doing your research on this beforehand to ensure you dress accordingly.

As I’m in the creative industry, I enjoy using the smart casual dress code as a way of incorporating my own style. I think about it as creating a look that I would wear on the first day at a new job – this gives me the guidance I need to get the balance right between smart and casual. I find that usually the companies with this type of dress code are actually interested in seeing your personality shine through, so keep this in mind when preparing your outfit!
