Benefit Mascara – They’re Real!

As I mentioned in my last makeup post, I am yet to find a mascara with that WOW-factor we all crave. I also mentioned in that post that the closest I have ever to come to finding the perfect mascara is this Benefit one called ‘They’re Real!’ However, as the No.1 best selling mascara in the UK I’m really not that impressed. OK, yes I admit it is good and it does provide the right combination of length and thickness, but it also costs nearly £20! For £19.50 I just cannot see how this mascara has become a best seller. I say that but of course each and every time I have a bit of spare cash to flash I come back for more….

Now I don’t know if it’s just me, but my eyelashes tend to take a while to adapt to a new mascara. It’s like they freak out and go wild when I use a new product. It takes me about a week to train and tame my eyelashes again but once I do this mascara did work better than any other I’ve tried. I’ve seen tons of reviews on this product where people say it is clumpy, and it is but only if you don’t let it dry before applying the next layer. I’ve found that this mascara is best when you apply just one coat to each eye, leave it to dry and do your eyeliner and then add that second and third coat if you need to. This makes a HUGE difference as when mascara is dry it is much harder for it to clump together, leaving you with neat individual long lashes rather than thick spider-like lashes.

As you’ve probably already guessed I’m a bit indecisive about this product but I can openly hold my hands up and say that this is the best mascara I have used to date. If anyone knows of any mascaras that may be able to challenge Benefit’s They’re Real! then please do let me know!

Benefit Hello Flawless Powder

Complexion is everything, we all know that. A good complexion can make you look 10 years younger and a bad complexion can make you look tired and sometimes even unwell. With this little compact powder you’ll always have access to a flawless complexion, hence why Benefit named it the Hello Flawless Powder.

Most of my regular readers will know that I use Max Factor crème puff as my go-to compact powder, but this may have just replaced it. But (there’s always a but) when it comes to pricing this product is nearly four times the price! This is where living within your means comes into it. If you can afford it, go for Benefit, always! If you’re strapped for money the crème puff powder will do you just as much good. This is the type of luxury product that can be missed and replaced by cheaper alternatives but it’s nice to have and can make you feel like a bit of a goddess.

Benefit Primer – The POREfessional

Sadly I only got to try out a tester for this primer so I have only used it about 3-4 times. However, the times that I have used it I have been astonished to how lightweight and silky it is. It really is like no other primer I’ve used. It glides across the skin and provides a lovely matte feel, but doesn’t actually do much for appearance in my opinion. I think my Rimmel primer is actually better, so I wouldn’t buy this item and I’m glad I only opted for a tester! Although, I can imagine this product being fab for those that don’t wear a lot of foundation and like to keep it light and natural looking. Give it a go girls and let me know what you think.

  1. One of my favourite mascaras and the one I am currently using is Hypnôse from Lancôme. 🙂 I have small lashes and the brush is the perfect fit to grab and lengthen all the tiny ones and make them look fuller at the same time. 🙂 I’ve never been an addict of Benefit mascaras, even though this one in particular is supposed to be the UK best seller. 🙂 Might be great only for girls with long lashes! 🙂 Great post!
